Mel Griffin is a native of Columbus, Ohio and has been a motivation speaker for over 38 years. After graduating from East High School in 1970, he attended Central State University and Eastern Union Bible College.
Mel has been a radio broadcaster for 45 years and has appeared on television for 21 years. He is President of Gold Chip Communication, which operates and formats radio station WVKO 1580 AM in Columbus, Ohio.
As a champion for people of all ages, Mr. Griffin has received numerous community and speaking awards across the country. His work includes 13 years of teaching and helping children with their academic studies in the local public school system. He also served with parks and recreation coaching young boys and girls in sports activities and teaching teens how to motivate themselves for professional careers.
Mel has worked in the community for over 50 years and has received numerous community awards for his contribution including the Columbus Gospel Legend Award, the Ministerial Alliance Award, a City of Columbus Mayoral Citation, the Cease Project’s Advocate of the Year Award and the community award from the More Excellent Way Ministries’ Rally To Keep Kids Out of the Alley Project.
He is married to Donna Griffin. Together they have 8 children, 25 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren!
